Each of these cute little 5" diameter bowls was crocheted at super sonic speed by a Maya crafter from San Pablo La laguna, across Lake Atitlán from San Juan. I can see the village from my window, shrouded in cooking fire smoke, as I write this. The women hang out on their doorsteps chatting and crocheting faster then I've seen anyone move their hands. Each bowl is made from the tail ends of weaving threads that aren't long enough to be used on a backstrap loom.
Use them to display business cards, as a coin catcher, a place to empty all that accumulated miscellany from your pockets, or as a holder of Montessori counting beads.
