Woven from fine cotton thread and hand dyed in complementing shades of blue. This style of weave is created by inserting a measuring tape into the weaving after every 7 or 8 passes with the weft thread. Weaving continues above the tape for 7 or 8 passes and when the tape is slid out, the resulting gap creates the vertical lines (check out the detail view). This forms a weaving that is softer and more fluid. The Ikat or jaspe design of this shawl has two subtly different tones of light blue.
